The world of bikers is as exhilarating as is it is intriguing. Their community is built on the foundation of freedom. Over the years they have certainly established a reputation for themselves. Bikers are known to be rebels; they live by their own set of rules. With the bad ass look and stubborn attitude, you can spot a biker from all corners of the world, from all walks of life.
The Biker World
There is a lot of depth in the motorcycle culture. On the surface there is the love and admiration for bikes. From the shape and size to the manufacturer, there is no end to the different ways bikers have customized their motorcycles. There's the biker look; blue jeans, t shirt, leather vest, leather jacket, leather boots, untamed hair, scruffy beard, has a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Then there's the community, the clubs, the brotherhood. Motorcycle clubs were made to unite riders together. Whether you belong to a club or just ride with a few friends, there is always a mutual respect. There is always common ground. Like I said above, they have certainly established a reputation for themselves. There is, of course, the darker side of the biker community. There are the ones that give the rest a bad name. But you don't have to look hard to see that this group of people, men and women, young and old, just want ride in peace. When the bike meets the road and the throttle has reached the max, when the wind is all you feel and in engine is all you hear, you see the world in a different light. You feel at ease. That is the depth to the biker soul.
What does a biker and steampunk have in common?
Like the biker community, steampunk was built on the foundation of freedom. The freedom to explore the uncharted world. The freedom to imagine and create. The freedom to live a life that is true to your soul is the heart of steampunk. The world of reality has limits. The world of imagination is boundless. Steampunk inspires adventure. Bikers are adventurous. The two are one in the same.
We start this year's motorcycle events this weekend with the Colorado Bike Expo in Denver. It'll be a great event with tons of bikers from all over Colorado. I hope to see you there!
Have a perfectly topped off day,
